Johnson Hopes to Make Home Event Memorable
HOUSTON, Texas – Jonathan Johnson and the JKJ Motorsports / Bar’s Leaks Racing team have an open mind as they head into this weekend’s O’Reilly Spring Nationals at Houston Raceway Park in Baytown, Texas.
This Houston national event always creates a lot of excitement for the team, as it is their home track. Like most teams, there are a lot of friends and family that attend and that certainly makes for a fun weekend. However, Jonathan has his own agenda. In the past, he has either done really well at his home track, or made a very early exit. He would like nothing more than to bring home a victory for the Bar’s Leaks Racing Team at this event.
“I have changed my approach recently and feel my driving has improved as a result,” comments Jonathan. “I am looking forward to getting the Houston National underway and see how we end up. As usual, there is quite a bit of talent in the field, so the racing will be tough, to say the least. Nonetheless, I think we are up for the challenge,” concludes Johnson.
This will be the second NHRA National Event of the year for Johnson and team. Their first was the JEGS Cajun SportsNationals that ended with a -.001 red light in the opening stanza.
“Despite our early exit in Belle Rose at the Cajun SportsNationals, Jonathan is a fearless driver that practices run after run in his head,” quotes Katie Johnson, Team Marketing Manager. “We did quite well a few weekends ago at a local bracket race and are charging full-steam ahead into this weekend’s race in Baytown. The team always thrives on the Houston National excitement and hope that it will play in our favor this year,” continues Johnson.
Qualifying will begin on Friday, April 9 at 8 am.
